About the role

  • Heat Pipe Engineering Intern involved in R&D and design processes for clean energy solutions at Westinghouse. Collaboration with materials teams and completion of experiments in engineering contexts.

Responsibilities

  • Help with research and development programs throughout all phases of the design process
  • Develop and implement design requirements, test plans, specifications, and procedures following quality assurance program requirements
  • Collaborate with materials teams in design of high temperature / corrosion compatible test articles and in analyzation of test articles using specialized mechanical / material analyses
  • Coordinate with site environmental health and safety to design and implement safety protocols into benchtop prototyping
  • Perform and complete experiments in compliance with quality assurance and safety requirements
  • Reduce and analyze large datasets using Matlab, Diadem, or Mathcad
  • Design test articles and prototypes using standard engineering practices and finite element analysis
  • Prepare detailed sketches, 3D models, and drawings using Auto Cad, Inventor, and SolidWorks
  • Hands-on fabrication and assembly of test fixtures and production equipment
  • Hands-on installation and troubleshooting of instrumentation and equipment controls

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, general, robotics, material, or chemical engineering
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Completed Sophomore year of college
