About the role

  • Hydrologic Data Systems Analyst managing hydrologic data and ensuring its availability for water resource management. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support crucial data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Help protect Florida’s water resources by managing the District’s scientific enterprise database and associated data processing applications.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and availability of hydrologic data to internal and external customers.
  • Produce hydrologic data reports and related graphics in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain ad-hoc and automated data transfers across database systems.
  • Assess data management system performance and implement modifications and enhancements.
  • Ensure quality control by evaluating, identifying, and resolving data issues.
  • Use creative skills to develop process improvements that impact the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in data or computer science with a concentration in environmental data, physical science, natural science, or related degree and Three (3) years' related work experience including programming skills (e.g., R, SQL)
  • OR Associates degree (or higher) in data or computer science with a concentration in environmental data, physical science, natural science, or related degree and Five (5) years' related work experience including programming skills (e.g., R, SQL)
  • OR High School Diploma and Seven (7) years' related work experience including programming skills (e.g., R, SQL)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience and/or academic work in hydrology, water-resource data, natural resource data or related field.
  • Experience with leveraging both R and Python to handle diverse data science tasks, including data cleaning and transformation.
  • Proficiency in Python, Toad for SQL, and/or other scripting languages
  • Proficient in utilizing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to automate workflows, perform data queries, and enhance scripting capabilities.

  • Familiarity with District data collection networks.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and make well-founded decisions.
