About the role

  • Designing and validating IoT Device concepts including electronics and firmware integration. Collaborating with international partners and ensuring technical improvements for Giesecke+Devrient IoT Solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, validation and implementation of overall IoT device concepts including component integration, mechanics, electronics, industrial design and firmware for existing and new IoT devices
  • Analysis, selection and qualification of suitable sensors considering electrical, mechanical and thermal requirements
  • Definition of technical requirements (e.g., vibration resistance, ingress protection, ATEX relevance) and design of additional elements such as mounts and housing interfaces
  • Collaboration with external, international development partners and suppliers, e.g., for mechanical design and testing, electronics or firmware development
  • Planning and execution of system and integration tests in close coordination with the test engineer
  • Support in root cause analyses and field feedback as well as derivation of technical improvements
  • Contribution to the preparation of new product developments
  • Documentation of technical integration and validation results
  • Operational representation of the lead engineer in ongoing projects (e.g., technical coordination, reporting project status to management)

Requirements

  • Degree in mechatronics, electrical engineering or a comparable field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in system architecture/integration, product development or testing of complex device or sensor systems
  • Experience with sensor and electronics integration, ideally in an IoT or industrial environment
  • Understanding of mechanical design (materials, vibration and ingress protection requirements)
  • Knowledge of validation, test planning and testing methodologies
  • Strong communication skills, structured working approach, high technical diligence
  • Experience with external development partners and suppliers desirable
  • Good German and English language skills, both written and spoken
  • Hands-on mentality with a systematic approach
  • Ability to solve technical problems in a structured way and to communicate across departments
  • Self-reliant, team-player and resilient.
