About the role
- Business Risk and Controls Advisor Lead managing compliance and risk management initiatives for USAA. Collaborating with multiple departments to promote risk-awareness and effective risk management programs.
Responsibilities
- Promote risk-awareness and overall effectiveness of risk and compliance management programs
- Partner and collaborate with Compliance and Risk Management, Business Operations, IT, Audit Services, and Regulators
- Support adherence to established risk framework and supervision of business controls
- Conduct risk and control self-assessments and evaluate control effectiveness
- Facilitate risk and compliance remediation and internal/external audits
- Monitor the first line of defense to minimize risk exposures
- Manage risk assessment data and identify insights tied to first line of defense
- Direct, organize and oversee action plans to enhance governance practices
- Advise senior management on the status of control environment
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
- 8 years of experience supporting risk-related, compliance related, or business control design activities; OR 8 years of experience in a relevant quantitative discipline; OR Advanced degree or designation in a risk management or quantitative discipline, and 6 years of experience supporting risk-related, and/or compliance-related, or business control design activities; OR PhD in a risk management or quantitative discipline, and 4 years of experience supporting risk-related, and/or compliance-related, or business control design activities
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
- Expertise in Life, Annuities, and Investment regulation to support analysis and implementation when regulatory changes occur
- Experience in compliance and risk management programs supporting Life, annuities, and investment products
- Life, annuities, and investment related licenses
- Experience overseeing and supporting multiple strategic projects through all project stages, planning, execution, monitoring and closure.
