About the role

  • Counselor managing overall program operations and participant care for TURN, which focuses on improving lives. Responsibilities include supervision, training, and treatment plan development.

Responsibilities

  • Overall program management including contract outcomes, leadership and supervision, clinical operations, training, fiscal and billing controls, EHR, workplace safety, and policies & procedures.
  • Assist participants in completing the appropriate forms regarding the transitional care phase of the program services.
  • Work in cooperation with other contract staff, sheriff staff, the continuing care service providers, county probation, parole, and the participant for the development of the Community Service Plan and Discharge Plan.
  • Communicate with participants regarding the reality of their pre-release activities and plans, defining terminology and identifying community resources.
  • Conduct a periodic review of curriculum and resources available to enhance participants’ participation in pre-release/life skills programs and activities.
  • Maintains class rosters, attendance records, and provides certificates for pre-release life skills program.
  • Assesses participant's needs and makes referrals to appropriate staff.
  • May participate in formulation and development of release plan.
  • Aids participants in planning and developing an individual post-release plan and encourages them to assume the responsibility for post-release behaviors and activities.
  • Assists other staff in dealing with problematic resident behavior.
  • Assisting with orientation to the treatment program, develops treatment plans, provides counseling and recovery services, vocational training, and relapse prevention.
  • Maintains a caseload as prescribed by the Program Manager.
  • Provides a variety of interventions including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, collateral services, and other relevant sobriety-related services to clients.
  • Recognize mood changes or signs of behavior that indicate relapse.
  • Schedules for daily activity and recreational activities and short-term special groups. Documents, reviews, and charts client progress and completes all required paperwork, on time.
  • Maintain the distinction between therapeutic and social relationships. Good sense of boundaries, ethics, and professional demeanor. Knowledge of substance abuse programs and treatment. Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Certification through a recognized alcohol and drug certification entity plus two years’ experience working with alcohol and drug related issues/addictions.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software.
  • Ability to solve problems and react appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team.
