About the role

  • Mid-level Data Engineer building secure, scalable data infrastructure on AWS for fintech startup TrueLayer. Collaborating with DevOps and Analytics teams to enhance data operations.

Responsibilities

  • Help design, build, and operate scalable, reliable, and secure data infrastructure on AWS
  • Focus on data platforms, orchestration, compute, and reliability
  • Operate production systems, collaborate closely with DevOps and Analytics,
  • Enable data teams through robust, well-designed infrastructure

Requirements

  • Technical Knowledge
  • EMR and Spark
  • Redshift and S3
  • Step Functions or equivalent Orchestration Tools
  • ECS or EKS
  • Python as the main programming language
  • Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
  • Git and CI/CD pipelines
  • Engineering Practices
  • Apply engineering principles (KISS, YAGNI, DRY, etc.) when designing data infrastructure or workflow
  • Apply DevOps and SRE best practices to data systems (monitoring, alerting, automated testing)
  • Take responsibility for production incidents, troubleshooting, and post-mortems
  • Continuously improve reliability and performance of data workloads
  • Collaboration & Enablement
  • Ability to translate analytics needs into scalable and maintainable platform solutions
  • Enable self-service analytics through reusable infrastructure components, templates, and tooling
  • Work closely with Analytics teams and collaborate with DevOps and Cloud Infrastructure teams on shared platform standards
  • We'd be particularly excited if you have
  • Familiarity with DBT from an infrastructure and deployment perspective
  • Experience with cost optimization strategies for data platforms
  • Experience with GCP
