Responsibilities
Set the strategic vision for actuarial data solutions within Finance
Lead a major modernisation journey, moving from legacy systems (e.g., SAS) to cloud-based platforms like Microsoft Azure
Design and execute roadmaps for data modernisation, including platform migrations, architecture redesign, and automation of key actuarial processes
Oversee data integrity and design assurance for actuarial valuation models and reporting systems
Build, mentor, and inspire a team of data developers and analysts
Partner across Finance and IT to create integrated, modern data solutions
Engage with strategic vendors (e.g., Milliman, SAS)
Influence senior stakeholders, securing buy-in for data initiatives
Maintain robust governance, ensuring compliance with insurance regulations and data protection standards
Manage team resources and budgets
Challenge and shape senior‑level decisions
Requirements
Extensive experience within the insurance industry
A proven track record of driving data transformation, ideally including migration from SAS to cloud platforms such as Azure
Strong expertise in data architecture, engineering, and data assurance—particularly in actuarial or financial environments
Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience scaling and managing high-performing technical teams
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience influencing at executive levels
Experience working with strategic vendors to deliver complex data solutions
Essential: SAS (Base, Macro, EG, DI Studio)
Highly Desirable: Azure Data Factory, Python, SQL, Databricks
Other Tools: Git, DevOps pipelines, Agile delivery tools, JIRA
Degree in Computer Science, or a related field
Professional certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect)
