Responsibilities
- Design of complex electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical systems, including ruggedized and precision hardware
- Drives design decisions with a strong balance of performance, risk, cost, and manufacturability considerations
- Owns the flow-down, implementation, and verification of requirements through design, analysis, test, and qualification
- Translates customer and system-level requirements into clear subsystem requirements and actionable design constraints
- Provides technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience with design, analysis, and test of one of the following: ruggedized electronics, opto-mechanical systems, or precision mechanisms; ideal candidate would also have experience with designing flight hardware for space or airborne applications
- Proficiency in SolidWorks; ideal candidate would also have experience with structural and thermal finite element analysis tools, such as Ansys or Nastran
- Produce detailed designs, tolerance analyses, and fabrication drawings suitable for flight hardware with strong knowledge of GD&T principles & techniques per ASME Y14.5
- Perform and oversee structural, thermal, and environmental analyses to ensure hardware robustness under launch and operational environments
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio)
- Excellent expository writing and oral presentation skills
