Lead laboratory footprint and engineering strategies for Synlab's autoimmunity and serology labs. Focus on optimizing operations, compliance, and project management across international teams.
Responsibilities
Support the development and implementation of a global lab footprint strategy to optimize the distribution of autoimmunity, allergies and serology laboratories and testing sites across regions.
Identify and support consolidation, expansion, and relocation opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery.
Support CAPEX planning and execution for laboratory infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with business growth and regulatory requirements.
Support standardization of laboratory processes across regions to enhance operational performance and cost efficiency.
Support the design, construction, and maintenance of state-of-the-art laboratories to accommodate evolving diagnostic capabilities.
Ensure compliance with industry standards (ISO 15189, ISO 17025, GMP, etc.) for laboratory design and operations.
Ensure compliance with the EU In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (CE-IVDR).
Implement automation and digitalization in laboratory processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate with IT and Digital teams to integrate Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and other smart lab technologies.
Apply Lean Six Sigma principles to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve turnaround times.
Benchmark and develop operational KPIs across labs to identify areas for continuous improvement and standardization.
Advise on optimizing resource utilization to reduce operational costs without compromising quality and compliance.
Participate in modeling and adapting Autoimmunity, Allergies and Serology target operating models at laboratory, country, and international network levels, working with cross-functional teams.
Act as the project liaison between the 3L team and medical, Group, country and local stakeholders.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in laboratory operations or engineering within diagnostics, healthcare, or life sciences.
In-depth knowledge of laboratory workflows, regulatory requirements, and automation technologies.
Experience in facility planning, CAPEX management, and laboratory engineering projects.
Proven ability to work in cross-functional and international team environments.
Strong project management skills.
Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) and automation trends in lab operations.
Excellent communication skills.
Location: Preferred Italy or Germany; other Synlab countries may be considered.
Languages: Fluent English required. Italian and/or German desirable.
Travel: Frequent travel required (more than 50%).
