About the role

  • Senior Financial Analyst supporting fast-paced finance team at Sun Life. Ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with SOX standards while collaborating with colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by Financial Analysts to ensure they are accurate and meet SOX and Sun Life standards.
  • Prepare complex account reconciliations, identify, investigate, and resolve differences.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Validate, improve, and document key business processes and controls.
  • Draft ICFR/Error memos and technical accounting/application memos for new or changing businesses.
  • Prepare quarterly balance sheet review and variance commentary.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in audit, financial reporting, technical accounting, and/or internal controls.
  • CPA designation.
  • Understanding of IFRS and SOX controls relevant to the insurance industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented and flexible to changing priorities and timelines.
  • Proven technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • As a condition of the role, the successful candidate must obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance through Sun Life.
