About the role
- Data Scientist driving the adoption of AI and data-driven solutions in the Compliance Innovation Team at Sun Life. Collaborating with IT and Compliance to enhance compliance processes and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Partner with IT and Compliance teams to scope and deliver AI, BI, and analytics projects.
- Apply advanced techniques (AI, GenAI, visualization, BI) from design through deployment.
- Build dashboards and craft compelling data stories to communicate insights effectively.
- Deploy AI solutions and automation tools into production and monitor performance.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency across compliance processes.
- Contribute to training and upskilling compliance staff on emerging technologies and best practices.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years in AI, analytics, or BI projects, including automation and data-driven solutions.
- Proven ability to manage end-to-end projects in cross-functional environments.
- Strong skills in data transformation, ETL, and process improvement.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management abilities.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and work on diverse project types.
- Proficiency in Python and libraries for AI and analytics (e.g., scikit-learn, transformers, TensorFlow, LangChain, pandas).
- Strong SQL and advanced Excel; experience with visualization tools (Tableau, QuickSight).
- Hands-on experience with AI/GenAI techniques and business intelligence platforms.
- Familiarity with AWS services (SageMaker, QuickSight, Q for Business) and cloud-based analytics
- Knowledge of financial services or insurance industry is an asset.
