About the role

  • Senior Data Scientist developing Asset Management Analytics for Queensland Rail. Contributing to organisational KPIs and enhancing asset performance through data analysis and modelling.

Responsibilities

  • Provision of regular reporting to meet contractual obligations.
  • Conduct ad‑hoc analysis of asset performance to support operational, engineering, and maintenance decision‑making.
  • Development of degradation models for suitable asset classes.
  • Deliver clear, expert interpretation of complex asset data to inform asset strategies and risk‑based maintenance planning.

Requirements

  • Advanced technical expertise in data analysis, statistical and machine‑learning modelling, and the use of modern data tools to deliver high‑quality, actionable insights.
  • Stakeholder engagement experience.
  • The ability to work autonomously and within the team.
  • Asset management experience (we’ll bring the rail knowledge).
  • Experience with data engineering.
  • Experience with R, Python and SQL is desirable.
  • A positive solution-focused approach.
