About the role

  • In-house counsel providing legal advice on federal regulatory matters and compliance for Strategic Education. Assist with litigation and training in a higher education context.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and serve as in-house counsel on a wide variety of matters.
  • Assist with federal regulatory matters related to two accredited institutions of higher education.
  • Assist with litigation and administrative proceedings.
  • Provide legal analysis and advice on policy matters, especially regulatory compliance issues.
  • Investigate legal issues and recommend actions.
  • Negotiate and draft contracts and legal documents.
  • Research federal and state legal questions.
  • Assist with general corporate matters and review university programs, procedures, and policies for legal compliance.
  • Provide legal and compliance training to in-house clients.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience in the practice of law.
  • Higher education experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree and JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Bar admission, or ability to become admitted, in Virginia, Minnesota, Maryland, or Washington, DC.
