About the role

  • Engineer I conducting inspections and providing expertise to Public Water Supply systems. Part of North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality ensuring safe drinking water.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct PWS field inspections, investigations, assessments, evaluations, and audits
  • Provide technical and regulatory assistance to various organizations/individuals on PWS subjects
  • Ensure PWS regulatory compliance and develop enforcement cases
  • Prepare and respond to correspondence and reports
  • Maintain understanding of PWS concepts, technologies, regulations, etc.
  • Review engineering plans and specifications for approval

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution
  • Proficiency with computers, internet research, word processing software and spreadsheets
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license
  • Professional Engineer licensure/Engineer Intern certification is considered an asset
