About the role

  • Lead Project Manager at Solstice managing capital project investments through their life cycles in the USA. Responsible for delivering projects according to time, scope, and budget requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the execution of capital investments through their entire life cycles in areas assigned, including: scope development, risk assessments, budgeting, engineering/design, procurement, construction execution, commissioning, startup, and project closure documentation
  • Ensure the safe execution of all projects managed or in assigned areas, while working with appropriate HSE personnel ensuring all government agency requirements are satisfied
  • Integrate plant personnel into the capital project management process to ensure results that meet the needs of the project stakeholders
  • Work closely with the business development analysts and site controllers to provide project evaluation and economic analysis on the capital investments for such managed projects.
  • Manage the overall effort leading to an approved Appropriation Request (AR)
  • Provide support for the Business Strategic Planning, Annual Operating Plan and Six Sigma Initiatives to develop appropriate capital plans/budgets
  • Monitor and control projects to meet the stated AR objectives and commitments
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Project Controls (Estimating, Scheduling, Cost Control, and Earned Value Management)
  • Maintain accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting and management of capital expenditures on a continuous basis
  • Interface with key sites and company personnel to make maximum use of available resources.
  • Participate in Site Leadership Team meetings as the representative for Capital Project Engineering as needed
  • Handle necessary eMOC items in areas assigned and PSSR requirements on projects assigned
  • Oversee appropriate maintenance and records of all drawings, specifications, programs, and other documentation for such managed projects
  • Advocate for strong safety awareness program with consistent implementation of policies and procedures and participate in construction safety audits and contractor safety meetings
  • Mentor less experienced Project Managers and Engineers
  • Oversee project teams of Solstice or Contract employees
  • Deliver projects on time, in accordance with the scopes of the projects and within targeted costs
  • Use SAP, EcoSys, and project management tools to cost-estimate, plan and execute projects
  • Use and obtain approvals for Change Orders to reflect changes to the project plans
  • Identify all internal/external resources for successful project execution, and ensure the necessary resources are assigned to the project appropriately by their respective managers
  • Coordinate all project activities between internal process design team, design houses, and contractors
  • Ensure customer satisfaction requirements and final process design package standards are met
  • Regularly report project progress to managers and project stakeholders. Identify any problems with cost over-runs or schedule delays
  • Maintain effective communication among internal process design team and contractors during the term of the projects
  • Prepare bid packages and requests for quotes for materials, equipment, and services
  • Prepare work order packages for construction
  • Be an advocate for safety awareness with consistent implementation of policies and procedures and participate in construction safety audits and contractor safety meetings.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience of increasingly related responsibilities in capital project management and execution processes
  • BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering preferred
  • Manufacturing experience in chemical plants preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of plant operations and processes preferred
  • Experience in the management of financial budgets, projects, troubleshooting, team building, and overall leadership
  • Experience working with contract engineering firms
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt (or Blackbelt) certification or equivalent experience implementing productivity / continuous improvement projects
  • Prior experience with SAP is preferred
  • Formal training and certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP)
