About the role

  • Senior Data Platform Engineer at Smallpdf overseeing ingestion pipelines and Redshift warehouse. Collaborating with data professionals to enhance data-driven insights for the company.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain reliable ingestion pipelines.
  • Ensure our Redshift warehouse performs consistently at scale.
  • Deliver high-quality data into our dbt transformation layer.
  • Own the systems that expose data back to the business.
  • Collaborate with experienced data professionals and data-driven stakeholders.
  • Oversee the ingestion of terabytes of near-real-time events from our products, backend, and third-party systems.
  • Own the ingestion and infrastructure components that power our data applications (Looker, Growthbook, etc.).
  • Improve the developer experience in and around dbt by building tooling, templates, and CI workflows.
  • Enhance monitoring and observability of our data pipelines and data at rest.
  • Shape the next generation of our data platform by identifying gaps, evaluating new technologies, and building capabilities that enable data science, ML, and experimentation at scale.
  • Extend our reverse ETL capabilities and bring data products closer to customers.
  • Partner with analysts and data scientists to ensure they have reliable, well-modeled data.

Requirements

  • Comfortable taking full ownership across the data platform life cycle, from ingestion and storage to transformation, orchestration, and reliable data delivery.
  • A systematic problem solver with a quality-first mindset, aiming for clean, reliable, and maintainable solutions whether you're debugging pipelines or designing new systems.
  • A strong communicator who enjoys collaborating with analysts, product managers, and engineers to build data systems that work seamlessly for everyone.
  • Curious, pragmatic, and up to date with the latest trends and technologies, particularly in the open-source scene.
  • Strong experience in Redshift, Kubernetes, Python, and SQL.
  • Experience with systems of similar scale and complexity is a strong plus.
