About the role
- General Accountant ensuring operational excellence in financial processes for SMA France's subsidiary. Responsible for accounting operations, reporting, and compliance with financial regulations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure operational excellence and the accuracy of financial processes for the French subsidiary
- Perform complex accounting transactions
- Contribute to month-end closing procedures
- Prepare financial reports for local management and the Western Europe Finance Director
- Review accounts, establish provisions, perform follow-ups, and declare uninsured outstanding receivables (Coface)
- Provide support across accounting areas including purchasing, inventory management, and fixed assets management
- Ensure compliance with depreciation policies
- Monitor and control expense reports
- Record and validate payroll journal entries
- Prepare bank journal entries
- Prepare social and tax filings: DAS2, TVS, DEB, DES, training report, CVAE
- Support the Finance Manager during local monthly and annual closing processes
- Assist the Finance Manager in the budgeting process
- Support the Western Europe Finance Manager during internal and external audits
- Identify and support improvements to existing financial processes and internal controls
- Draft and update procedures
Requirements
- BTS in Accounting
- DECF
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial accounting
- Strong technical accounting expertise with solid knowledge of French accounting and tax standards
- IFRS knowledge is a plus
- Proven experience contributing to full monthly and annual closing processes
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables)
- Significant hands-on experience with a major ERP system (e.g., SAP FICO)
