Financial Controller safeguarding financial integrity at fintech startup that automates back-office services. Overseeing financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls with a focus on startups.
Responsibilities
Ensure key schedules are maintained in a clear, accessible, well presented format (3BD after month end)
Ensure general ledger is accurate (3BD after month end)
Issue the complete management reporting package (5BD after month end)
Provide a detailed variance analysis report comparing actual performance against budget and prior periods, with explanations for all variances exceeding 10% (6BD after month end)
Sign-off on all balance sheet account reconciliations (8BD after month end)
Design and maintain robust consolidation systems and processes (intercompany agreements, transfer pricing policies)
Manage financial statements in multiple currencies and ensure accurate translation into group currency; provide insights on the impact of foreign exchange fluctuations on financial performance
Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Assess current financial system for efficiency and effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement
Develop and implement best practices for financial reporting within the system
Collaborate with IT teams to introduce new features
Design, document, and enforce key internal financial controls (e.g., Segregation of Duties, 3-way matching for payments, authorisation limits) for all processes
Maintain and regularly update (at least annually) the Financial Policy and Procedure (P&P) Manual, ensuring staff adherence and alignment with global standards and local regulatory requirements
Requirements
CPA or CFA or equivalent qualification
At least 10 years experience in a Finance-related role
At least 3 years experience in an in-house Finance role
Experience managing others
Experience managing an Audit (need not be an ex-Auditor though)
Experience in a startup/ scaleup
Experience managing accounting for entities across multiple jurisdictions (including intercompany agreements)
Excellent spoken and written English.
