About the role

Responsibilities

  • Help unlock the value of data by defining, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines for high-value data products.
  • Ensure that data flows efficiently across various systems, enabling stakeholders to access timely and accurate insights.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of data engineering principles and practices
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work with large, complex datasets.
  • In-depth understanding of components required for pipeline development (i.e. Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, Pyspark and Azure Data Factory)
  • Proficiency in SQL and extensive experience in developing and optimizing notebooks for data processing, analysis and ML.
  • Strong understanding of Delta Lake features (ACID transactions, schema enforcement, time travel, DML operations and Z-ordering.
  • Knowledge of data security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Benefits

  • Annual Leave: 28 days per annum, increasing to 30 days after 5 years of service, plus bank holidays.
  • Bonus: 5% annual bonus.
