About the role

  • Actuarial Analyst focused on actuarial analysis and modeling to support corporate decision-making at SGI. Collaborate across teams to enhance insurance operations and profitability analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting actuarial analysis and modelling using a variety of techniques
  • Producing reports, presenting findings and making recommendations to support corporate decision making
  • Collaborating with peers and contributing to initiatives and actuarial projects
  • Conducts statistical and actuarial analysis on data from multiple sources using predictive modelling and other techniques
  • Developing spreadsheets, database table structures and extracts, and statistical software code to compile and categorize data
  • Communicating actuarial concepts and key findings both verbally and in writing with supporting documentation
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key internal stakeholders across the corporation
  • Adhering to actuarial and regulatory guidance

Requirements

  • A four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in Actuarial Science or a relevant field of study
  • Successful completion of at least two Casualty Actuarial Society exams or equivalent progress on Canadian Institute of Actuaries qualification pathway
  • One year of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of actuarial methods, modelling, statistics and assumptions used in ratemaking and reserving
  • Knowledge of database structures and logic
  • Skills in quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities, including critical thinking with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to present results of analysis to a non-technical audience at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to research, analyze and make decisions
  • Ability to present and communicate effectively with non-actuarial areas of organization
