About the role

  • Controller overseeing planning and financial reporting processes for Schäfer Shop, a leading office supplies provider in Europe, enhancing operational efficiencies and transparency.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the planning process: You will assume the coordinating and conceptual responsibility for planning, drive the further development of the planning process and the planning system, and align them with future requirements.
  • Manage forecasts and budgets: You will advise and support the preparation and operational creation of forecast, budget and medium-term planning while optimising structures and procedures with a solution-oriented approach.
  • International business partner: You will support the foreign subsidiaries, keep an eye on results and costs, recognise patterns and deviations, and ensure transparent, targeted reporting.
  • Drive analyses: You will independently perform evaluations, contribute your own ideas and proactively implement improvements as soon as you identify potential.
  • Advance controlling: Together with the team you will work on the further development and ongoing implementation of profit and cost controlling, in particular for the foreign subsidiaries.
  • Optimise reporting: You will contribute to reports for management, shareholders and the advisory board, prepare presentations and decision papers tailored to the audience, and use feedback to continuously improve quality.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed degree in economics with a focus on controlling/accounting or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in corporate controlling, ideally in a (omnichannel) retail company
  • Solid knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS
  • Very good user skills in MS Office
  • Ideally basic SAP (CO/FI) knowledge
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Strong analytical thinking and quick comprehension, even for complex interrelationships
  • High level of commitment, persuasiveness and strong communication skills
