About the role

  • Occupational Therapist at DeMay Living Center assessing and restoring patients' functions. Designing and implementing therapy interventions and collaborating with healthcare professionals for effective patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and restores patients' function, alleviates pain, and prevents disabilities by designing, planning, and implementing medically prescribed occupational therapy interventions.
  • Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributes to patient care conferences.
  • Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment.

Requirements

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy, bachelors, masters or doctorate.
  • Current NYS Occupational Therapist License or limited permit as a Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • 1 year of experience with the frail elderly population preferred.
  • Three (3) to six (6) months of previous experience preferred.
