About the role

  • Part-time Proposal Writer crafting persuasive proposals for engineering and environmental contracts with government agencies. Collaborating with experts to secure new contracts while working remotely from Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Writing persuasive, well-structured proposals for engineering and environmental contracts
  • Reviewing RFPs, RFIs, or RFQs and task order requests to understand all requirements, client needs, and evaluation criteria
  • Summarizing proposal requirements, preparing proposal outlines, documenting action items and coordinating the proposal schedule
  • Interviewing and collaborating with subject matter experts, sales, and technical teams to gather necessary information
  • Assigning and collecting information from technical personnel and translating it into clear and easily understandable writing
  • Creating, editing, and preparing SF255, SF330, or other RFP specified formats, including resumes, past performance narratives, graphics, and other technical and financial sections
  • Reviewing and editing proposal responses for consistency, compliance, win-theme incorporation, messaging alignment, and solution accuracy during regular and core team review cycles
  • Ensuring high-quality proposal responses while meeting all deadlines
  • Drafting clear, compliant, and compelling text that articulates the proposed solution and its benefits
  • Coordinating proposal timelines, content development, and ensuring all deliverables are submitted on time
  • Proofreading documents for clarity, grammar, consistency, and ensuring compliance with all submission guidelines
  • Maintaining and updating a repository of reusable content and templates to streamline future proposal efforts
  • Supporting development of graphics, organization charts, and other visual content as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in proposal writing
  • Background in federal, state, and municipal proposals preferred
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical or project information into accessible, persuasive language
  • Strong proposal coordination skills and the ability to manage multiple simultaneous proposals under tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Powerpoint, Word, Excel); experience with Adobe InDesign or other layout tools is a plus.
