About the role

  • Quantitative Analyst Climate at Rabobank analyzing climate-related risks and producing sustainability insights. Collaborating on climate risk assessments with a focus on geospatial models and analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop geospatial models and data processing pipelines to assess risk and impact of natural climate hazards
  • Combine geospatial data from different sources to estimate the current and future probability of impactful events across multiple regions
  • Use extensive knowledge in (geospatial) climate modelling, and quantitative research skills to work in a cloud-based analytics environment
  • Produce climate risk indicators, and support in broader sustainability analytics
  • Engage with scientists and external initiatives to stay up to date with the latest developments
  • Use geospatial analytics and climate data to deliver concrete insights on climate risk and impact for Rabobank’s global activities

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or PhD in environmental sciences, geosciences or a related quantitative field
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in climate science, environmental modelling or sustainability analytics
  • Strong programming skills (Python is preferred)
  • Experience in geospatial data analysis (with GeoPandas / xarray and/or ArcGIS)
  • Solid grounding in climate science and environmental modelling
  • A solid foundation of data science and Generative AI is a plus
  • Experience working in cloud environments, preferably Azure (Databricks, DevOps) and version control (Git) is a plus
  • Knowledge or experience of working in climate change and sustainability would be an asset
  • Ability to communicate research results effectively by translating complex information to clients and stakeholders
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency in Dutch is considered an advantage.
