About the role
- IT Administrator managing high-security ICT systems at Quantum Technology Laboratories GmbH in Vienna. Responsible for IT infrastructure's security, stability, and maintenance duties.
Responsibilities
- Operate and protect an ICT system with strict separation of network domains
- Design, implementation, and monitoring of security-relevant network measures, such as firewalls, VLANs, gateways
- Execution of security monitoring, log analysis, system hardening, and regular audits to ensure compliance
- Management of user and access control concepts
- Operation and maintenance of local server environments (physical and virtual)
- Administration and monitoring of central services such as NAS systems
- Planning and execution of updates, patches, security checks, and system optimizations
- Ensuring smooth 24/7 operation of infrastructure components
Requirements
- Completed degree or relevant IT training (e.g., computer science, IT security, system administration) or equivalent professional experience
- Several years of experience administering security-critical IT systems
- In-depth knowledge of:
- - Network segmentation and secure network architectures
- - Red-black separation concepts / domain separation
- - Linux and/or Windows server administration
- - Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM, Proxmox)
- - Storage systems (NAS/SAN)
- - Git/GitLab operation, CI/CD services, and internal DevOps workflows
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) is an advantage
- Familiarity with security standards (BSI guidelines, hardening guides, audit requirements)
