About the role

  • Cyber Security Architect at Quantum Technology Laboratories focusing on compliance with cybersecurity for satellite systems. Collaborating with teams on security-critical requirements for space missions.

Responsibilities

  • Define guidelines and processes for managing the development lifecycle of security-relevant requirements.
  • Plan, lead, and execute security evaluations and certifications of products according to Common Criteria (CC).
  • Engineer and design safety- and security-critical requirements for both ground and space segments of satellite missions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including device specifications, Interface Requirement Documents (IRDs), and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Manage and control subcontractors, including quotation assessment, milestone reviews, delivery evaluations, and preparation of change requests.
  • Drive communication with internal and external project partners; discuss safety and security aspects with authorities, certification bodies, and institutions.

Requirements

  • Completed university degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong background in information systems and systems engineering.
  • Proven experience in Requirements Engineering and the V-Model development process.
  • Expertise in satellite communications, satellite navigation programmes, or comparable aerospace systems.
  • Professional experience in applied cryptography, such as cryptographic device development, key device operation, or secure system design.
  • Familiarity with cryptographic algorithms and protocols (e.g., AES, Poly1305, authentication methods).
  • Knowledge of IT security for cryptographic devices, including red-black separation, tamper protection concepts, and secure operational environments.
  • Experience supporting evaluations based on Common Criteria, ISO/IEC 27000 series, and/or NATO security regulations.
  • Nice to have: Experience with security risk analysis, such as the EBIOS methodology.
  • Understanding of satellite system architecture, ground-to-space communication, and on-board data handling.
  • Familiarity with UML, SysML, and programming languages such as C++ or Python.
  • Knowledge of ground segment engineering and spacecraft operational concepts.
