Controller overseeing financial health through management of accounting, treasury, and risk at Ohio Valley Electric Corporation. Leading teams, ensuring compliance, and safeguarding funds.
Responsibilities
Directly supervise the Treasury and Accounting staff.
Lead the department by setting goals, conducting performance evaluations, and providing professional mentorship.
Ensure a culture of accountability and that adequate cross-training exists for all key roles.
Direct the General Accounting and Accounts Payable sections.
Ensure the recording of assets, liabilities, and income/expense activity is performed at a proficient level in strict adherence to FERC accounting structures and utility-specific standards.
Oversee corporate compliance with all federal, state, and local taxing requirements.
Direct the securement and control of corporate insurance.
Oversee daily cash management, the investment of company funds, and strict adherence to financing covenants to ensure a timely and accurate cash position.
Oversee the billing and collection process for sponsor companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the Inter-Company Power Agreement (ICPA) and other fuel or power contracts.
Responsible for knowing and complying with the laws and Code of Business Conduct related to the performance of the aforementioned duties.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a strong, demonstrable knowledge of accounting principles and the FERC Uniform System of Accounts.
Required minimum of 5 years of prior experience in a supervisory or management role, with a proven history of developing teams and managing departmental workflows.
8–10 total years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally within the utility industry.
A Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a CPA certification, is highly preferred.
