About the role

  • Anaplan Solutions Architect managing and optimizing financial planning models for OpenAI's growth. Collaborating with finance and tech teams to ensure data integrity and scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of Anaplan models that power financial planning, workforce forecasting, budgeting, and long-range strategic modeling.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable, well-structured models and system configurations that support evolving planning and reporting needs.
  • Partner with Strategic Finance, Accounting, and People teams to deliver enhancements that improve forecast accuracy, planning flexibility, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Design and manage robust data pipelines and integrations between Anaplan, Oracle, Workday, and other enterprise systems, ensuring seamless, reliable data flow.
  • Diagnose and resolve model and integration issues — including data mismatches, calculation errors, and performance bottlenecks — while continuously improving stability and reliability.
  • Implement governance, access controls, and metadata management practices that support security, audit readiness, and SOX compliance across the platform.
  • Build and maintain scenario planning tools, driver-based models, and advanced analytics capabilities to enable better business insights and strategic decisions.
  • Document model structures, integration architectures, operational runbooks, and technical processes to ensure long-term maintainability and knowledge sharing.
  • Support monthly forecasting, annual planning, and reporting cycles by delivering accurate data, timely model updates, and technical expertise throughout each planning phase.

Requirements

  • Significant hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining Anaplan models, including completion of official Anaplan certification programs (Model Builder, Solution Architect), with Master Anaplanner certification strongly preferred.
  • Proven success designing and maintaining scalable, well-structured planning models that support forecasting, budgeting, and long-range strategic planning.
  • Deep understanding of model architecture best practices, including driver-based planning, scenario modeling, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Hands-on experience building and managing data pipelines and integrations between planning platforms and source systems (Oracle, Workday, etc), leveraging APIs, ETL, or iPaaS solutions.
  • A strong grasp of accounting and finance principles, including budgeting, revenue forecasting, workforce planning, and multi-entity consolidation.
  • Experience supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual planning cycles — including reconciliation, data validation, and parallel run operations.
  • Exceptional documentation skills and the ability to produce clear technical specifications, modeling standards, and user guides.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements, security best practices, and audit readiness as they relate to planning systems.
  • A track record of success in dynamic, high-growth environments where scalability, accuracy, and reliability are critical.
  • A curiosity-driven approach to technology, with a passion for exploring new modeling techniques, data frameworks, and system capabilities to improve planning outcomes.
