Hardware Design Engineer at RIEDEL Communications designing cutting-edge hardware and collaborating with teams for product development in Laval, Canada.
Responsibilities
Design and develop hardware for advanced electronic products, including printed circuit boards, signal processing modules, video interfaces (SDI, HDMI, etc.), optical interfaces, and Ethernet-based systems
Create mechanical enclosure and chassis concepts aligned with hardware functionality and environmental requirements
Improve or redesign existing hardware platforms to meet new use cases, product requirements, or performance criteria
Lead new product development from concept to verification: translate product definitions into hardware designs, define test plans, and oversee electrical validation procedures
Prepare and maintain clear, detailed, and compliant documentation throughout the product lifecycle
Collaborate closely with the hardware team to align specifications, implementation approaches, and engineering revisions
Work closely with software engineers during integration, validation, and iterative cycles of hardware/software solutions
Perform or support electrical verification with an R&D technician to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance
Update and modernize legacy boards as needed to meet current design standards and expectations
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent discipline
5 to 7 years of experience in hardware or electrical engineering, ideally in video, broadcast, or signal processing environments
Strong analytical skills and hands-on experience in electronics and mechanical design
Familiarity with a programming language, embedded firmware, or scripting (an asset)
Experience with OrCAD Capture and Cadence Allegro (an asset)
Membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) is an advantage
Fluency in French and English (required)
