About the role

  • Senior Mechanical Engineer in Stantec’s Buildings practice, leading mechanical building systems projects. Collaborating with teams to deliver high-quality and sustainable designs in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering and design on projects and serve as the engineer of record
  • Provide QAQC services in alignment with firm Quality Process Manual
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Design Managers/Project Engineers for deliverables and Basis of Design
  • Oversee load calculations, systems design, cross-discipline coordination, and signing and sealing of contract documents
  • Conduct LCCA Analysis
  • Mentor junior engineers and participating in in-house continuing education programs
  • Coordinate with Department Head and Focus Leads for resource allocation
  • Manage Construction Administration phase of a project including submittal review, RFI responses, and site visit proficiency
  • Strong working knowledge of Revit, including Revit Schedules and sequences of operation
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 10 or more years of engineering experience in industrial design and construction industry with a current Professional Engineers license in the U.S.
  • LEED AP preferred
  • Technical writing experience and proficiency
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proficiency in PDF tools such as Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficiency in energy modeling using a IESVE or other current DOE-2 modelling software (ASHRAE 140 Compliant)
  • Knowledge in scope definition, design schedule management, coordination with other disciplines, design document creation, and quality reviews
  • Budget tracking throughout design
  • RFP scope definition and resource estimation
  • Perform engineering studies for highly technical clients whose details include but are not limited to phased system loading, payback analysis, and knowledge of industry trends
