About the role

  • Sr. Investment Data Analyst responsible for financial insights and automating database architecture for Globe Life’s diverse investment portfolio. Supporting a multi-asset portfolio to modernize analytical and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with IT to optimize data infrastructure, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Automate / change process / reinvent process
  • Apply data modeling techniques (hierarchical, relational, dimensional, etc.) to integrate investment accounting and FP&A datasets.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data models to enhance financial insights and decision-making.
  • Use programming languages such as Python or R along with AI tools to automate processes and improve efficiency.
  • Modernize legacy Excel-based models into scalable, automated solutions using BI tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to streamline FP&A and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain robust Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) models to determine the valuation of private investments
  • Support automation and analytics across investment management, treasury and investment accounting.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies during daily processing.
  • Develop and implement financial models for scenario planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Analyze investment financial data to identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities for Globe Life subsidiaries.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports and analyses, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for subsidiary boards of directors, financial reporting, and management.
  • Partner with other departments to gather relevant information and ensure alignment of financial plans with strategic objectives.
  • Calculate and verify daily, monthly, and quarterly investment returns for various asset classes.
  • Perform Performance Attribution to identify specific drivers of portfolio returns, such as asset allocation and security selection.
  • Analyze risk-adjusted returns and monitor benchmarks to ensure alignment with investment objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field; CFA, FRM, CAIA, CPA or similar designation preferred.
  • MBA or an advanced degree in a relevant field, preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in financial analysis and reporting, process automation, database development.
  • Experience with automations / data modeling/database/systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior analyst or lead role where independent work and strategic contributions were expected.
  • Deep understanding of fixed income, portfolio performance metrics, and risk management.
  • Proven ability to build "repeatable" processes rather than one-off analyses.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL and at least one programming language (Python or R) for data manipulation and automation, and visualization tools, such as tableau and power BI.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Data & Financial analysis, including forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling.
  • Advanced analytical skills with ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in building professional-grade DCF, IRR, and NPV models from scratch.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with financial systems; interest in process automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Knowledge of investment accounting and reporting, with a strong understanding of financial instruments, accounting principles (e.g., GAAP, SAP), and regulatory requirements for insurance companies.
