About the role
- Accountant overseeing financial records and month-end close procedures for Nucor at Newton, IL. Collaborating with various business partners to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with the month-end close procedures, including preparing journal entries for the Newton Plant
- Ensuring reporting and financial records follow company policies and GAAP
- Maintaining and continuously improving the internal control structure
- Keeping various business partners apprised of current reports and data analyses
- Conducting inventory reserve analysis on a quarterly basis
- Generating variance reports, analyzing costs of raw materials, etc. and creating cost-benefit analyses
- Assisting with the annual physical inventory count, capital expenditure tracking and reporting, analyzing sales and expenditures and monthly and annual forecasting
- Successful candidates will use excellent communication skills to develop relationships across Skyline Steel, Nucor, and the industry.
- Demonstrating the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Requirements
- 4-year degree in Accounting or other financially related field
- 2+ years of related work experience
- Experience with Data Analysis
- Proficient Microsoft Excel experience
- Occasional travel may be required
- Masters in Accounting or CPA, CMA, or other related credentials preferred
- Manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience with an integrated ERP preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.
