About the role

  • AML Consultant role at Northern Trust focusing on compliance with AML, CTF, and Sanctions regulations in Ireland. Involves investigation of suspicious activities and supporting compliance initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Head of AML Compliance Ireland to execute the AML compliance programme of the Administrator and Depositary entities in Ireland
  • Reporting to key stakeholders on compliance with AML, CTF and Sanctions regulatory requirements
  • Participation in EMEA and Global AML forums, initiatives and activities
  • Management of the AML Compliance mailbox, responding to requests for information and provision of advice and support on AML/CFT/Sanctions related matters
  • Represent AML Compliance at Due Diligence Reviews of the Administrator conducted by clients and their MLROs
  • Daily review and closure of sanctions screening alerts of the investor base, escalating to key stakeholders
  • Investigate Unusual Activity Reports raised by partners to the MLRO and act as the key point of contact with Fund MLROs during investigations
  • Submission of Suspicious Transactions Reports to the authorities as requested by the MLRO
  • Periodic reporting to Fund MLROs on suspicious activity
  • Perform annual reviews obtaining approvals for Policies, Procedures and Service Descriptions owned by the AML Compliance team
  • Prepare quarterly reports for Risk Committees and Boards, reviewing and challenging MI provided on AML activities performed by first line team
  • Complete annual AML/CFT Business Risk Assessments of the AML/CFT/Sanctions risk for the Administrator and Depositary entities
  • Conduct monitoring reviews of AML activities performed by first line teams including high risk clients’ CDD at onboarding and periodic review.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an AML role, or a non-AML role that evidences AML was a key component of the role
  • Knowledge of Irish and EU AML/CFT and Sanctions regulations is essential
  • Highly motivated individual who has a proven record of using initiative to resolve problems
  • Analytical ability to identify and understand problems as well as to provide effective solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Confidence and expertise to advise and challenge senior management and the business
  • Ability to make decisions on their own and also to be a team player and effective communicator to ensure that issues are appropriately resolved
  • Ability to deal effectively with multiple competing deadlines.
