About the role

  • Engineer responsible for planning, execution, and verification of complex MantaRay NM upgrades at Nokia. Ensuring minimal service disruption and optimal performance across various deployment flavors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive upgrade plans, including risk assessment and contingency planning, for MantaRay NM systems across Baremetal, VMWare, and OpenStack environments.
  • Lead and execute MantaRay NM software and hardware upgrades, patches, and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance.
  • Perform pre-upgrade health checks, data backups, and post-upgrade verification, performance testing, and system optimization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues encountered during or after MantaRay NM upgrades.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of upgrade procedures, configurations, and post-upgrade reports, communicating effectively with stakeholders.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for MantaRay NM upgrade processes, providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Possess extensive hands-on experience (7+ years) with the Nokia MantaRay NM system, including a strong understanding of its components.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Linux OS administration (including shell scripting), database systems (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL), and network protocols.

Requirements

  • Extensive MantaRay NM System Experience with proven hands-on experience (7+ years) with Nokia MantaRay NM system administration, configuration, maintenance, and a track record of successfully planning and executing major MantaRay NM upgrades.
  • MantaRay NM Component Understanding: Strong understanding of MantaRay NM components (e.g., CM, PM, FM, SM, Reporter) and their interdependencies.
  • Linux OS Administration proficiency in Linux OS administration, including shell scripting.
  • Database Knowledge of database systems (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and SQL.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills, excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities for complex system issues, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Python Scripting experience with Python for automation.
  • Application Containerization (Docker) familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker.
  • Industry Certifications relevant industry certifications (e.g., ITIL, Linux, Oracle, Cloud certifications).
