About the role
- Senior Accountant supporting financial accounting and reporting controls at Northrop Grumman. Handling complex accounting duties and guiding the Accounting Department staff in compliance with procedures.
Responsibilities
- Supports the facilitation and maintenance of an efficient and progressively effective financial accounting and reporting controls system
- Perform a variety of accounting duties of high complexity in compliance with existing procedures
- Supports daily operational aspects of accounting and financial reporting
- Maintains property accounting records and performs physical inventory
- Receives, sorts, and proofs accounting documents
- Posts appropriate entries to ledger accounts
- Prepares reports, financial statements and reconciliations
- Provides guidance and support to the Accounting Department staff on routine and complex duties and transactions
- Makes recommendations to enhance or improve operational policies, procedures, and tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- CPA highly preferred
- Minimum of five to seven years of professional accounting experience in a Financial Institution or Public Accounting Firm
- Excellent working knowledge and experience with GAAP
- Excellent analytical skills with proven business and financial acumen
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel with ability to create, update and maintain files with complex and conditional formulas and formatting
- Thorough knowledge of financial institution compliance requirements and regulations governing financial institutions.
- Experience with cash management, collateral management, capital analysis and liquidity management.
- Knowledge of Asset Liability Modeling and cash flow analysis.
