About the role

  • Analytic staff collaborating with law enforcement to support agricultural crime investigations in Florida. Researching data, developing intelligence, and presenting findings with a focus on criminal activities.

Responsibilities

  • This position serves as analytic staff in the Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement (OALE) Bureau of Investigations (BIS) under the supervision of the Crime Intelligence Analyst Supervisor-SES.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with OALE BIS and BUS commanders, supervisors, investigators and staff to support tactical, operational and strategic actions in support of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) statutory responsibilities.
  • Research and analyze raw data, apply critical thinking and logic skills to develop sound conclusions, recommendations, and actionable intelligence to be presented via information and analytic products.
  • Review, evaluate, and analyze available data, from open source and various law enforcement data bases and disseminate information and relevant data regarding criminal activity, criminal enterprises, and suspected criminal acts in support of criminal investigations.
  • Prepare written or oral briefings, presentations, and educational products using charts, graphs and analytic resources to develop hypotheses based on collected data, developed intelligence and professional judgment.
  • Conduct research and strategic crime analysis, analyze long term crime patterns and trends using statistical analysis and forecast future criminal activity.
  • Responsible for the procedures and techniques related to computerized mapping, analysis and review of digital forensic data.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, experience at a law enforcement agency, which employs law enforcement officers (as defined by 943.10 Fla. Stat.), 911 emergency telecommunications as an operator/officer/dispatcher, farm, ranch, or agricultural management along with a high school diploma can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education;
  • Vocational/technical training in law enforcement can substitute for the required education at the rate of 720 classroom hours per year of required college education;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience which equals four (4) years can substitute for the above requirements.
  • Requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
