About the role
- Backend Developer responsible for developing and maintaining a microservices backend for IMES Industrie-Software. Requires extensive Java experience and collaboration with product management.
Responsibilities
- Develop and evolve our microservices backend (Spring Boot & Quarkus)
- Design, implement and operate stable APIs as well as event-driven integrations (Kafka)
- Implement and maintain database migrations (PostgreSQL / Flyway)
- Ensure code quality, stability and long-term maintainability
- Build and maintain unit and integration tests (including Testcontainers)
- Co-responsibility for building and operating services: CI/CD (Jenkins), containers/Kubernetes and deployments with Helm
- Close collaboration with frontend teams and product management to deliver a consistent, functional overall solution
- Continue evolving our technology stack (e.g., Java upgrades up to Java 25) and drive continuous engineering improvements
Requirements
- Several years of backend development experience with Java
- Strong knowledge of Spring Boot and/or Quarkus (microservices)
- Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, data modeling and Flyway migrations
- Experience with Kafka or comparable messaging/eventing architectures
- Practical experience with CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins) and a basic understanding of Kubernetes/Helm
- Clean Code mindset, architectural understanding and enthusiasm for long-lived systems
- Advantageous: experience with ERP integrations (D365/NAV/SAP) or OPC-UA
- German at near-native level
