Entry Level Bridge Engineer at Moffatt & Nichol specializing in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects. Using structural analysis software and coordinating structural design with other disciplines.
Responsibilities
Utilize structural analysis software for design, such as: Leap Bridge Concrete, Leap Bridge Steel, Open Bridge Modeler, STAAD, SAP2000, etc.
Complete design tasks with supervision and learn to work independently
Coordinate the structural design with other disciplines and construction team
Become familiar with various structural standards and building codes such as: AASHTO, AREMA, and UPRR/BNSF guidelines
Compile data and perform calculations required for the preparation of drawings and design studies
Prepare cost estimates
Prepare construction documents
Collaborate with Bridge and Rail Team and all company disciplines
Conduct bridge inspections and assist in supervision of site investigations as needed
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred
0 to 2 years of experience
EIT certification preferred
Intern experience preferred
Experience with VDOT projects desirable
Experience with MicroStation and/or Open Bridge Modeler desirable
Experience with STAAD, SAP2000, or similar a plus
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
Availability and willingness to travel
