About the role

  • Structural Engineer supporting Energy group at Stantec focused on civil/structural engineering and hydraulic structures. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and managing project administration and design responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Participate on multidisciplinary teams in a virtual team environment as well as in an office environment.
  • Perform preliminary and detailed civil /structural analysis and design for concrete, steel, and masonry structures.
  • Preparation of studies, design criteria, design reports, plans and specifications, and review of related designs and construction plans, and support of construction
  • Organize, draft and coordinate production of various reports to ensure technical consistency and inclusion of appropriate documentation
  • Inspect construction for compliance with specifications; review and approve drawings; conduct field inspections; review progress versus schedule
  • Assist with preparation of budgets and scopes of work.
  • Assist in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, and completing progress reports.
  • Assist technical staff in field activities including site inspections, shop inspections, monitoring and other fieldwork
  • Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.

  • willingness to work in a virtual team across offices
  • willingness to travel occasionally
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering with focus on Structural engineering
  • Master’s degree with emphasis in structural engineering preferred
  • PE preferred or ability to obtain within the first year of employment
  • 5+ years’ experience in the design and implementation of large infrastructure
  • preferred experience in structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures and familiarity with the relevant codes and guidelines
  • preferred software experience in finite element software such as SAP2000, ANSYS and LS DYNA
