About the role

• Backend Engineer developing scalable APIs and backend systems for Modjo's SaaS platform. Collaborating with product, design, and data teams to enhance client interaction strategies.

Responsibilities

• Implement robust, scalable APIs and design complex backend systems focused on data (ingestion, transcription, voice analysis, etc.).
• Optimize our services to handle large data volumes and high real-time load.
• Ensure the security, integrity, and availability of systems.
• Maintain high code quality (tests, monitoring, documentation) and contribute to continuous improvement of our tech stack.
• Participate in architecture decisions, challenge product specs, and work closely with frontend developers to ensure seamless API integration.

Requirements

• Proven experience in complex software architecture (SaaS, cloud-native, distributed systems).
• Technical proficiency: Excellent command of TypeScript, with good knowledge of modern backend frameworks.
• Deep experience with AWS services (Lambda, SQS, SNS, etc.), serverless, event-driven and message-driven architectures, and multi-tenant system design.
• Strong understanding of databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis) and best practices for monitoring, observability, and application reliability.
• Bonus: Experience with tools like Terraform, CDK.
• Ability to think platform-first: scalability, resilience, security, compliance.
• Has co-maintained a high-traffic production platform with strict availability and customer SLAs.
• Experience in technical leadership (guilds, architecture committees, mentoring).
• Business-oriented: you make technical choices to maximize product impact and platform performance.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills with diverse teams (backend, frontend, data, data scientists, product, sales).
• Fluent in French and very comfortable in English.
