Process Safety Engineer supporting maintenance plans and compliance with regulations for operations in Guyana at MODEC. Focusing on safety measures and improving fleet reliability.
Responsibilities
Support the development and execution of maintenance and inspection plans, SCE lists, and Operation Assurance Tasks (OATS), focusing on operational needs, as well as monitoring action plans and indicators within the scope of the Process Safety & Reliability discipline to ensure compliance with industry regulations (ANP, IBAMA, MPT, etc.) and MODEC guidelines.
Contribute to the reliability and performance of operations regarding the management of process safety critical elements and the guidelines of the Process Safety & Reliability discipline by monitoring results, properly conducting root cause investigations, and providing technical review/recommendations.
Support the Process Safety & Reliability discipline with solutions, lessons learned, and knowledge sharing through proposing and controlling indicators and new reports.
Contribute to improving fleet performance and safety by reviewing MOCs, TQs, NOIs, etc., participating in RCAs/FMEAs, and providing technical recommendations to support the Operations team.
Monitor the effectiveness of safety barrier processes to keep facility operations within ALARP, managing related indicators and providing technical recommendations when necessary.
Participate in risk analysis workshops, safety studies, and technical reviews, and manage the implementation of safety study recommendations developed during the operational phase, ensuring recommendations are captured in the safety action tracking system and verifying their effectiveness with appropriate evidence in the system.
Participate in periodic vessel boardings to promote process safety values, culture, and awareness among operations teams.
Help protect MODEC from non-compliance with technical standards and/or specifications (adherence to internal guides and application of CMMS routines) by conducting periodic internal process safety audits to identify procedural deviations and provide technical recommendations or action plans within the scope of the Process Safety & Reliability discipline.
Provide process safety information related to fleet reliability and safety by updating and reviewing the 5-year Safety Study (e.g., FSA and MAH case), safety study protocols, and reviewing and validating risk assessment reports to support the Operations team and ensure all aspects are analyzed. Additionally, assist the discipline lead in monitoring, maintaining, and performing periodic revalidation of the MAH register, Bowtie, and SCE lists for the operating fleet.
Be responsible for classifying process safety events (PSEs), ranking them by criticality and assessing additional control measures, lessons learned, and related actions.
Participate in internal and external audits (ANP, clients, and others) related to process safety.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering; postgraduate degree in Engineering is a plus; MBA or equivalent is a plus.
CREA registration (mandatory).
Fluent/advanced English.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. Basic knowledge of CMMS (preferably SAP) is a plus.
Basic knowledge of Risk Analysis software is a plus (preferably PHA Pro Tool).
Basic knowledge of Visual Risk Assessment software is a plus (preferably Bowtie XP).
