About the role

• Backend Engineer designing and developing scalable web services for the gaming platform mod.io. Involves high-performance API access and collaborations with frontend and in-game development teams.

Responsibilities

• You will be a core contributor to the Web Services team, designing, developing, and maintaining the high-performance, scalable backend services that power the entire mod.io ecosystem.
• This role ensures reliable, fast API access for game clients, developers, and users globally.
• You will use modern technologies to build robust systems, directly contributing to the platform's stability and future scalability under global traffic and high concurrency.

Requirements

• 2+ years PHP experience working with Laravel.
• Experience with NoSQL key-stores such as Redis & relational databases (MySQL, Postgres, etc).
• An ability to write high quality, modern PHP code using the Laravel framework.
• A strong understanding of RESTful API’s and how applications consume them.
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services’ such as ECS, S3, Lambda, SNS, SES, SQS, EC2, RDS.
• Familiarity with testing suites such as PHPUnit, with the expectation that all code you write is thoroughly tested.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications.
• Confidence in your ability to contribute to a project from start to finish with little oversight from senior team members.
• An excitement to dig in and experiment, with real attention to detail and to challenge conventions.
• A hunger to own your code, improve your craft, and create a kick ass experience for millions of gamers along the way.
