About the role

AI Application Engineer developing AI-driven web applications and services for internal teams and clients, focusing on Python-backend and LLM-API integration.

Responsibilities

As an AI Application Engineer (m/f/d) you will develop AI-powered web applications and services for internal teams and client projects — with a focus on Python backend, LLM API integration, database connectivity and reliable operations.
You open your notebook, review existing workflows and consider how AI or automation can create real time savings.
You begin with an initial prototype, write code in Python and test how data can be processed via an interface.
Gradually this evolves into a functioning workflow.
In collaboration with the AI & Digital team you adapt the solution, integrate an LLM API or add a simple UI so colleagues and clients can use the tool intuitively.
Once everything runs stably, you prepare the deployment, document the solution and iteratively further develop it — with the goal of making measurable, concrete improvements in everyday work and in client projects.

Backend expertise in Python: You are proficient in Python and have experience developing web applications or APIs, ideally with FastAPI, Django or Flask.
AI and API experience: You have worked with LLM APIs before or are eager to dive deep into these technologies.
Data understanding: You work confidently with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and understand the basics of data modeling.
Frontend basics: You can implement simple web interfaces with HTML, CSS and JavaScript or are willing to learn modern frameworks like React, Vue or Angular.
Version control & deployment: You are experienced with Git and team workflows and have initial experience deploying applications to servers or cloud environments.
Security awareness: You handle authentication, API keys and sensitive data responsibly and ensure secure, reliable applications.
Structured working style: You can translate business requirements into technical solutions, work independently and reliably, and keep your processes clear and traceable.
Problem-solving skills: You recognise dependencies, find pragmatic approaches and develop stable, usable solutions.
Enthusiasm for learning & technology: You are interested in generative AI, modern web development and cloud services and are motivated to continuously develop your skills.
Languages: You speak German well and English very well.
