About the role
- Paralegal supporting the Gaming Enforcement Division in Boston. Conducting legal research and providing administrative support to the Criminal Bureau.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day paralegal and administrative support to employees of the Gaming Enforcement Division (GED) as well as the Criminal Bureau.
- Research policy and legal matters pertinent to GED initiatives.
- Draft administrative, grand jury, and trial subpoenas, as well as witness summons, discovery, and preservation orders at the direction of prosecutors.
- Track referrals, investigations, and prosecutions for GED.
- Support grand jury work by preparing documents and analyzing returns to help develop investigations.
- Support litigation matters by creating discovery, as well as scheduling business and law enforcement witnesses.
- Analyze digital evidence in furtherance of investigations and prosecutions.
- Assist in the coordination of trainings and assembly of training materials.
- Organize and deposit seized monies, as well as track seizure and forfeiture processes.
- Maintain Office databases, such as the Criminal Bureau’s Usuary Database.
- Perform other duties, as required.
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related education and/or experience, required.
- Demonstrate interest, and understanding of, the sensitive nature of working on investigations involving organized and public corruption crimes.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with a high level of professionalism.
- Analytical skills, sound judgement, and excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency with technology, computers, and Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to travel across the Commonwealth, including weekly travel to Boston Office and Malden District Court.
