About the role

  • Utility Senior Project Manager providing support for transportation and maintenance projects at MCDOT. Managing utility coordination and ensuring compliance with infrastructure designs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide critical and necessary support to nearly all county roadway transportation and maintenance projects
  • Lead a team of utility coordination professionals
  • Manage, negotiate/obtain agreements and ensure identification, relocation, and costs for various utilities on each project
  • Evaluate complex utility designs and ensure that projects are clear of utility infrastructure conflicts prior to construction
  • Conduct utility construction, contractor, and other permit review and processing along with assigning, directing, and reviewing the work of others

Requirements

  • Two years of professional pre-registration civil engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) may substitute for the experience requirement
  • A combination of related post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
  • Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire.
  • Six years of utility coordination, land surveying experience, construction inspection, construction management, or engineering design
  • Prior experience with land/property rights, construction standards, traffic control, railroad safety, and design review
