About the role

• Associate AI Engineer developing and deploying AI solutions to optimize global operations for Manulife. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Leverage and integrate advanced AI models, such as large language models (LLMs) and Agentic AI, to solve complex business problems and enhance operational efficiency
• Partner with business stakeholders and other engineers to gather requirements and build/integrate AI solutions smoothly with existing systems
• Design & collaborate with Data engineers on complex content extraction and chunk/loading to vector stores
• Work with data engineers to establish high-quality data pipelines that ensure efficient data processing for AI applications
• Regularly assess and enhance AI models and systems for optimal performance, accuracy, and reliability
• Advocate for and apply responsible AI practices and rigorous testing methodologies
• Keep up with the latest AI technologies and research, incorporating new methodologies to enhance our solutions
• Actively learn from senior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, innovative team environment
• Implement efficient human feedback loops to refine and improve AI actioning solutions

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in AI engineering with a proven track record of successfully building and deploying AI solutions
• Familiarity with AI frameworks and libraries such as LangChain, LangGraph, or OpenAI SDK
• Strong Python programming language skills
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent technical experience is also considered
• Strong skills in prompt engineering and indexing/retrieval techniques (preferred)
• Strong skills in developing production grade AI code, building APIs with best practices and integrate with UI (preferred)
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (preferred)
• Foundational knowledge of machine learning algorithms and experience in applying pre-built models (preferred)
• Understanding of data engineering principles, including data pipelines and ETL processes (preferred)
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with the capacity to tackle complex technical challenges (preferred)
• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders (preferred)
