About the role

  • Senior Environment Artist creating stunning game environments at Lighthouse Games. Collaborating with a talented team to deliver memorable gaming experiences in a AAA studio.

Responsibilities

  • Create and Implement High-Quality Environments: Develop 3D models and textures for diverse terrains, geology and water bodies (rivers, lakes, oceans) that align with the game’s artistic vision and technical constraints
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with the Art Director, Game Designers, and Technical Artists to ensure environments are visually compelling, gameplay-optimized, and adhere to performance standards
  • Leverage Advanced Tools and Techniques: Utilize industry-standard tools (e.g., Gaea, World Machine, Houdini) and procedural content generation methods (e.g., Unreal PCG, Houdini) to efficiently create scalable, high-quality environments
  • Mentor and Guide the Environment Art Team: Provide leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level artists, maintaining a high standard of quality and fostering a culture of creativity and excellence
  • Participate in critiques and reviews of environment art on-going work, providing constructive feedback and ensuring they meet the needs of both the game design and artistic vision

Requirements

  • Shipped Games: Proven experience shipping at least one major game title as a Senior Environment Artist
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Maya, 3DSMax, Blender, Substance Painter) and terrain creation tools (e.g., Gaea, World Machine, Houdini)
  • Game Engine Expertise: Strong experience with Unreal Engine or Unity, with a focus on environment optimization and integration
  • Artistic and Design Fundamentals: Strong understanding of shape, form, composition, and visual storytelling principles to create visually compelling game worlds
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Excellent communication skills and experience mentoring junior artists, with a proactive attitude towards cross-disciplinary collaboration

  • Unreal Engine Experience: Extensive experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5, including advanced features such as Nanite, Material creation, or Blueprints
  • World Game Experience: Previous experience in creating large-scale world environments
  • Photogrammetry: Experience in photogrammetry for capturing, processing, and creating terrain and geological assets
