About the role

  • Analyst handling financial crime compliance at Mallesons, a top-tier law firm. Collaborating to prevent, detect, and mitigate financial crimes under AML and CTF regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for playing a key role in preventing, detecting, and mitigating financial crimes within the Firm.
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts to help the Firm comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF), and financial crime regulations.
  • Managing risks from the Firm’s New Business Intake (NBI) and throughout the client lifecycle.
  • Supporting compliance related to employees and procurement.
  • Conduct client and matter due diligence checks to ensure AML, CTF, and sanctions compliance.
  • Help identify and manage regulatory, reputational, and strategic risks.
  • Support efforts to enhance the Firm’s global NBI systems, processes, and governance related to financial crime compliance.

Requirements

  • Experience in financial crime compliance, anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorism financing (CTF), or similar regulatory environments (preferably in legal, banking, or professional services).
  • Familiarity with due diligence—knowing how to research and verify client info using databases and public records.
  • Understanding of risk management in client onboarding or business intake processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, as you’ll be working with sensitive legal and financial information.
  • Analytical and investigative skills—you need to spot red flags and decide when to dig deeper.
  • Communication skills—you’ll work with internal stakeholders and need to explain your findings clearly.
  • Ability to manage workload independently, staying on top of tasks and escalations.
  • Relevant professional certification from ACAMS, ICA or other.
  • A bachelor's degree in law, finance or business administration.
  • A high level of experience relating to onboarding and periodic reviews of corporate clients.
  • Strong knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) regulations in Australia and Singapore.
  • Have a good understanding of red flags in a professional services environment.
  • Previous experience in a Client Due Diligence role (2-3+ years).
