About the role

  • Student assistant supporting video production and communication at the Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology. Contributing creativity and technical know-how to outreach and communication efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, shooting, and editing videos
  • Recording voice-overs/soundtracks and performing video post-production (e.g., with Adobe Premiere or comparable software)
  • Preparing content for the web and social media
  • Translations from English → German
  • Maintaining and updating website content
  • Design, research, or editorial tasks

Requirements

  • Experience in video production and editing (Adobe Premiere or similar programs)
  • Fluent German and English, both spoken and written
  • Interest in geography, geoinformatics, computer science, or related research fields (or prior experience in these areas)
  • Enjoy working independently and reliably as well as in creative team settings
  • Nice to have (but not required):
  • Skills in graphic design (e.g., InDesign)
  • Experience maintaining websites (WordPress)
  • Interest in blogging, social media (LinkedIn, Mastodon, Bluesky), or press relations
