About the role

  • CAM/Application Engineer developing machining strategies using advanced CAM software at Kennametal. Responsible for customer engagement, optimizing processes, and supporting turnkey project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer requirements and develop optimal machining strategies using CAM software including tool selection and on site machining support.
  • Define complete machining processes involving tooling, fixturing, and machine tool interfaces.
  • Demonstrate feasibility and optimize processes through virtual machining simulations.
  • Promote Kennametal products with strong technical credibility through effective process recommendations and machining solutions.
  • Deliver compelling technical product pitches to support sales growth.
  • Travel to customer sites across regions for discussions, execution, validation, and prove out of turnkey machining projects.
  • Provide field programming, application support, troubleshooting, and technical guidance as required.
  • Build and maintain a library of proven case studies and machining solutions for organizational reuse and training.

Requirements

  • 5-8 Years
  • Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, CNC programming, and metal cutting applications.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Experience in process design, process re engineering, cycle time optimization, and machining troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of fixturing concepts, machine tool capabilities, and cutting parameter optimization.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills related to machining.
  • Excellent communication skills for customer and internal team interactions.
  • Ability to manage and execute projects independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to support customer projects.
  • Proficiency in any of CAM Software’s like Siemens NX Manufacturing, CATIA, ESPRIT , Mastercam, Solid CAM, Post processor setup and customization, Toolpath verification and machine simulation.
  • Independently executed successful projects using CAM software like CATIA , Vericut , ESPIRIT, Solid CAM , Master CAM etc
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5–10 years of hands on CAM experience in machining, toolpath development, and CNC programming.
  • Exposure to aerospace component machining is an added advantage.
